PlayBook OS 2.0 installed on 43% of devices after one week, firm says

To say that the past 12 months have been a bit rocky for RIM and the Blackberry eco-system in general would be grossly understating the obvious. The once great manufacturer has seen record capitol losses and watched its market share slide at an increasing rate. Google on Friday filed documents with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to sell its entire stake in Clearwire. The Mountain View-based company spent $500 million in 2008 �to acquire a 6.5% stake in Clearwire, and now the search giant is now looking to sell its share for $47 million, less than a tenth of the original investment. Verizon?s 4G LTE network suffers nationwide outage [updated]
We have received a number of reports this morning from Verizon Wireless customers complaining that the carrier?s 4G LTE network was down in various parts of the country. The carrier’s support forums have also been flooded with complaints from irate users who claim the service is down across the country, and Verizon customers service representatives have reportedly confirmed the outage to a number of subscribers. Verizon�customers have suffered from data problems before ? the carrier recently had three massive outages in a single month. UPDATE: Verizon says all issues have been resolved and its 4G LTE network came back up around 1:00 p.m. Eastern.

Groupon Buys Local Database-Maker Hyperpublic
Groupon has acquired Hyperpublic, a New York-based start-up that provides location-based information developers can use to build their own applications. Hyperpublic, which raised a $1.15 million seed round in 2010, announced the deal on its own site, but didn't disclose a purchase price. CEO Jordan Cooper says some of the company's 10 employees will move on to Groupon, and that he'll work for the daily deals company in some capacity. But he says he'll also continue on at his other job, as a general partner at Lerer Ventures.
