The American Civil Liberties Union, the Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC) and seven other privacy groups have contacted the U.S. Federal Trade Commission asking it to investigate Facebook for “secretly tracking users after they logged off of Facebook?s webpage.” A 34-page complaint filed by EPIC asks for an injunction, investigation and “other relief” from the social network. Apple will launch its next-generation iPhone 5 in five initial markets on October 14th according to a new report from�Macotakara. The site, which has a mixed track record, reports that Apple will release the new device in the United States, the U.K., Germany, Japan and France on that date, with launches in additional markets to follow. A Foxconn factory in Shadong, China caught fire on Tuesday but the blaze was quickly extinguished, Reuters reported. Foxconn said there will not be an impact on production and there were no worker casualties. An explosion caused damage at a Foxconn factory in Chengdu, China in May, and resulted in three Foxconn worker deaths, 15 injuries and a slowdown in Apple iPad production. That tragedy also caused a 2.14% monthly revenue dip, or about US$6.95 billion in lost revenue. A Foxconn spokesperson told Reuters that Tuesday’s fire was caused by electrical cables on the factory roof and noted that the damages will be covered by insurance. Seamless, a New York company focused on bringing delivery and takeout services to the Web, has acquired MenuPages�for its�database of 35,000 menus. Seamless, which made the acquisition from New York Media for an undisclosed amount, said the combined companies have 240 employees and are expected to book $400 million in orders this year.
